The Wii also performed well in 2009, selling 730,000 units – a new record for a home videogame console. The system now has an Australian install base of over 1.7 million units.

In terms of software, New Super Mario Bros. Wii sold more than 200,000 copies since its November launch, while Mario Kart Wii and Wii Fit both continued to sell well. The former has now sold more than 500,000 units over the course of its 87 weeks on sale, while the latter has sold over 740,000 units.
