A budget experience for the user. My guess is that folks at OEMs such as ASUS and Samsung are already sketching out ideas.

Another pressure point that the iPad is now firmly applying pressure to is devices that offer web access but don’t offer a rich browsing experience. Apple’s managed to deliver a good web experience on a small screen (iPhone/iPod touch) and is now scaling that up to a bigger screen. If Microsoft doesn’t get its act together with Windows Mobile and IE for mobile devices soon, it’s going to be little more than a joke.

Where does this leave Amazon’s Kindle and B&N’s Nook ebook readers? Well, again, it’s not good. While Amazon and B&N have managed to lock in users to their respective devices thanks to DRM (and before you all jump on me, I’m not saying that the iPad represents any less of a lock-in), but again, the iPad makes these devices seem like one-trick ponies that are starting to go a bit grey. I’m not saying that the iPad is a Kindle/Nook killer, or that it needs to be, but Apple’s seen a revenue stream that it wants in on. My guess is that Apple wants to be in a position where it can set the price for ebooks (and probably newspaper/magazine subscriptions), which would certainly shake up the market.

I've been playing Glory of Heracles in the last week, a game that was noticeably pampering during my first hands-on time with the game at E3, but also penetrated into the RPG convention you really wake up on the beach with no memory of the past, the name of your character first as a "message??".

So why a new game in the long-running (in Japan, at least) Hercules series? And why did you bring it in North America?

Kentaro Nishimura, Assistant Producer at Nintendo said.

"If the Nintendo DS hardware was available, a new kind of fun with pin was asked the revival of Heracles was just an example of great timing," Nishimura told Kotaku. "It was decided that was the game mechanics of Glory of Heracles ideal to create a new kind of role that a pin used to."

The "new kind of RPG is a new kind of audience addressed, which may be a longing for an epic role-playing type of yarn, but familiarity with conventions of the genre and mechanics.

"If the idea of creating an RPG game that uses the touch screen function to arrive was the need for the provision of new player-friendly game system considered unavoidable," said Nishimura. "The game proceeded the development in accordance with this original concept."

"A user-friendly game does not necessarily mean an easy game. Glory of Heracles provides step-by-step instructions and easy slaughter events for novice players," says Nishimura. "For the core players, the game offers more battle events."The battle for North American players events were accelerated after the Japanese version of Glory of Heracles caught some flak for the slow pace.

As a player of rare Japanese RPG Mario & Luigi outside of the odd titles and more creative efforts, such as Demon's Souls, and Valkyria Chronicles, I really do not think considering the re-education in the traditional RPG mechanics. And the story, as I have experienced so much of it bordering cliché may be, should be as good a primer on the Japanese role-playing....
